Toepassing
G418 disulfate salt is an aminoglycoside antibiotic similar in structure to gentamicin used for selection and maintenance of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells transfected with a iNOS promoter construct and neomycin resistance gene†Optimale concentraties voor selectie en onderhoud variëren per cellijn. Bacteriën en algen hebben 5 μg/ml of minder nodig, terwijl dierlijke cellen 300-500 μg/ml nodig hebben.
Biochemische/fysiol-acties
G-418 remt de eiwitsynthese in de vroege stadia van verlenging, na initiatie, in de initiatiestadium van translatie en net voor de initiatiestadium van translatie.
